The White Horse Soapbox Derby is bigger and better than ever before

Next year on May 18th, the top of the iconic Westbury White Horse will be full of stalls, exhibitions and karts getting ready for their run down an even steeper, longer and more gnarly course than last year. And this time, the theme for the exhibitions is wind power and renewable energy!

The soapbox derby is a race of high class engineering that sometimes veers into the strap it up and hope for the best gravity-powered karts. They zoom down the hill and entertain the thousands that attend.  The karts are designed and built by teams of creative, slightly mad and definitely talented people, who compete for prizes for the quickest run, young champion and best historical theme. 

This year, the soapbox derby is also a celebration of wind power and renewable energy, as West Wilts is home to one of the largest engineering trading estates in the country, and we want to help inspire the next generation of climate conscious engineers. No doubt green solutions will be the focus of many industries going forward. 

The soapbox derby is not only a race, but also a festival of fun and entertainment for the whole family. There will be food stalls, live music, games, and activities for all ages. You can also enjoy the stunning views of the Westbury white horse, a giant chalk figure that dates back to the 18th century.
