Spaces are at a premium and will be offered on a first come first served basis.
The course will completely change this year, moving to Port Way which offers a fantastic, steep and challenging course, as well as a far better viewing area for spectators on both sides of the course.
Races will commence at 10:30am, 1pm and 3:30pm. Each team will get three runs, with their best time taken for final scores.
The course will be more than 400 metres, with an average gradient of 8.4 percent. There is a section of the track that gets to 18.4 percent. Yeah, we said 18.4 percent. For some context, the toughest ascents in the Tour de France are around the 8 percent mark.
The Challenge
Teams must design their soapboxes with a clear Historical Engineering Theme in mind.
The course is extremely steep, so five obstacles will be set up to increase the technical difficulty of the course.
Some tough stipulations will be in place to ensure each team's safety. The Soapboxes will be stringently tested before the competition.
