Back Again!
Our kart is modelled on Ayrton Senna's 1993 McLaren MP4/8. We chose the "8" race number as our clinic address on Maristow St is also number 8. It had 5 Grand Prix wins... we would be happy with one Soap Box win....or even just a podium place!
The Team
- Kay Pearce
- Joe Rutter and the constructors team including Steve
- Ev
- and Henry.
Driver Details & Racing History
It's the second time for the local Westbury team from Maristow Chiropractic Clinic in the derby, who only had a minor whiplash injury to resolve for each other after last year's race. What did we learn? Our brakes were too good and we could be braver! 2024 was the dress rehearsal....this year we are aiming for a podium place!
Kay beat Joe in last year's heats by 00.10 of a second...meaning she qualified for the 3rd run down the hill, but hit a barrier and had to limp home finishing in 11th place.
Engineering Background
None. Actually, genuinely...none! We engineer human skeletons, not karts. But it's who you know, not what you know...right?
Supported Charity
National Axial Spondyloarthritis Society:
Good luck Saying that on the tannoy! We pledge to give £100 if we come 3rd in the race, £200 2nd , £300 FIRST!
Fun Facts
There is a 1 foot 5 inch height difference between our drivers and our kart is modified to fit both of us to include sliding brake pedals so Kay can reach the pedals and Joe can fit his legs in.
Last year the roll cage didn't quite fit Joes head in so we have extended it to make it more functional.
Winning Strategy
Don't brake. Or Break?
